Eureka! Museum for Children/Clore Foundation – ‘Our Global Garden’
Project completed for Imagination
Eureka! Is a hands-on interactive experience for children aged 3-12. The galleries provide a space for children to explore and learn freely. Having designed much of the original gallery ten years earlier, Imagination pitched for a new £1m interactive environmental gallery to take children ‘on a journey around the world’.
Our winning concept was ‘Our Global Garden’ – a journey ranging from a Halifax back yard to the Desert, Jungle, and Ice Poles.
A partnership was developed with animation company Collingwood O’Hare, positioning their TV character, Gordon the Gnome, as a guide to the journey. This gave Eureka! a powerful association with Gordon who has the voice of Alan Titchmarsh and is now a major BBC children’s series.
All exhibits were designed bespoke and met stringent health and safety targets, cutting edge design aims, national curriculum objectives and tight budgetary requirements. The final environments revealed two floors of stunning conceptual effects; pull and play interactives housed in extraordinary graphic and 3D backdrops, with ‘real’ artefacts and bespoke sound-scapes.
